Disabilities Is Not a Hindrance to Job Employment

Disabled workersHave you imagine yourself being a disabled who applies for a job but is being passed out by someone who is physically fit? For most cases, disabled individuals find themselves hopeless to have a job.

Now, a job fair in Henderson gives hope to individuals with disabilities to get placed for a job. Well, the job fair is intended to help disabled individuals find a stable job in an unstable economy.

With the 2005’s record, there are 56,000 individuals with disabilities who are unemployed in the Clark County. And now, it is even more higher which was figured by the Nevada Disability Advocacy and Law Center. This has brought out the employability fair in Henderson.

Disabled individuals can work if just given opportunity. In fact, there are others who have great potentials.

One disabled person says, “It’s just nobody is hiring. They see you in a chair and it’s like, ‘Not hiring”

This has been the common mistake for most employers. When they saw someone on a wheelchair, they put an X to it. They don’t even realize that disabled individuals somehow can.

At the job fair in Henderson, there are only 12 employers but this was just its first year and they hope to get more for the next year’s employability fair again.

Carolyn Taylor says, “Most of the people here offer jobs to people with disabilities, whether it’s on a volunteer basis or for a competitive employer.”

The job fair doesn’t just intend to hire but they also provide classes on how to make a marketable resume and on how to pass interviews.
